🎼 Quincy’s 12 Notes — Note #1: Don’t Live in the Past

1–2 minutes

read

Quincy’s 12 Notes will be shared weekly in The Wyld Flow newsletter, with full breakdowns available on Wyldflow3r.com.

“Whenever we get hung up and locked into the past, we are completely robbing ourselves of the present—and definitely the future.” — Quincy Jones

🎧 Let’s talk about it.

The past is powerful.

It shapes us.
It teaches us.
Sometimes… it breaks us.

But Quincy made something very clear:

👉🏾 You’re not supposed to live there.

🧠 The Trap of Looking Back

It’s easy to get stuck.

  • replaying what happened
  • wishing something went differently
  • holding onto a version of life that no longer exists

And before you know it…

You’re not moving forward anymore.

You’re just circling memories.

🎶 Even Music Doesn’t Stay There

Think about it.

The greatest artists:

  • evolve
  • experiment
  • shift

Even when they honor the past…

They don’t live in it.

Because staying there?

That’s where creativity dies.

💡 Pain vs. Purpose

Pain doesn’t magically go away.

Quincy isn’t saying that.

But what you do with it?

That’s the difference.

You can:

  • sit in it
  • or use it

You can:

  • replay it
  • or reshape it

🎯 The Real Cost

When you stay stuck in the past…

You’re not just holding onto yesterday.

👉🏾 You’re giving up today.
👉🏾 And delaying tomorrow.

✨ Final Thought

You don’t have to erase your past.

But you do have to decide:

👉🏾 Is it holding you…
or are you using it?
